THE WINDOW STORY SO FAR
Those of you who have been visiting the shop, may have noticed the different window displayS since Christmas. What people may not be aware of, is the ongoing storyline behind these displays.
After Christmas it showed the New Year celebrations of a young couple. These two 'people' got engaged on Valentines day and in March purchased their first house. They attended church over Easter to announce their Banns and are currently in the window getting married.
Taking 12th scale to a time measure, each month has been a year, and I have a feeling that there may be a baby on the way, so we will have a nursery theme during May/June. July/August will see a lovely holiday scene, and if you keep up to date you will see what happens next.......
If you cannot get to the shop, I intend to post pictures from the window going forward. Unfortunately I did not think to take pictures earlier, and many, many people have commented about our Halloween window.........so I will try to keep you updated!!

Frequently Asked Questions |

What period is the easiest to furnish a dolls house ?
The Georgian and Victorian eras are the ones with the most furniture and accessories available; this is because they were the longest periods from 1714 - 1811 and 1837 - 1901. But do bear in mind that furniture and accessories are available for all periods including Tudor, Art Deco, War time, and more and more modern items.
Is it best to decorate whilst building the house?
It really depends on the size of your house. If it has small rooms it can be easier to decorate before building, however most houses have large enough rooms for you to be able to decorate once constructed.
What about painting should i do this after it's built ?
It's always easier if you are painting a house to do it before you build. This is especially important when painting wooden windows.
What paint should i use ?
You can use the textured paint you can find in most dolls house shops, or a vinyl silk emulsion. If you use a matt finish you will have to re-paint each time it gets marked!!! Most soft sheen, and silks you can wiped over.{best if it's for a child} Do remember not to use gloss paint for wooden windows as it is too thick. Either use emulsion or satin wood or if you really want a gloss finish why not use modellers paint, like Humbrol.

Do you build and decorate?
Yes we do.
Please see the renovation page for a very rough guide to our prices. Don't let your kit or house gather dust in the cupboard, get it built and have some fun!!!
Can I buy by installments?
Yes you can. Please send an email, or ring the shop. We take a 25% deposit (special refund conditions apply) then you can pay any amount whenever you like, until you have paid for the house. We will then send it to your home address.
Do you have a loyalty scheme?
Yes we do. Each time to spend £10 we will 'stamp' your card. If you are purchasing over the internet, you will need to let us know when you last purchase was, so that we can keep a track of records. Once you have spent £100.00 you will receive a 10% discount voucher. (Please note that loyalty stamps are not given on houses, as these are already discounted)
Do you have late night trading
Only during the run up to Christmas. The shop will be open on Wednesday evenings, from next week until 20.00hrs.
Are you open Sundays
Not usually. But we will open the 4 Sundays prior to Christmas, and we will travel in if you are going to spend 'an amount' of money :) You will however, need to arrange an appointment before the Sunday to allow me to travel in from home.
